Seeing a Professional Live Audio Engineer in Action

 In 2022, Behind the scenes

On Sunday March 6th, I asked one of the intern coordinators if I was able to work with Malcom, the live audio engineer, as I was interested in audio. He agreed since he said I did great camera work for the grand finale for one of the horse show events being held in the NRG Arena.

While my job was to write down the times whenever a new song started, it was amazing to see Malcolm work. He explained to me how the soundboard functioned and how it was organized for proficiency. He also said he has about 50 years of experience in the industry. I thought it was insanely awesome that he was able to recognize a song change despite the language barrier.

Being able to see a professional at work was great to see. Having a little bit more knowledge of the audio industry was an awesome feeling. Seeing Los Tucanes de Tijuana perform live was a huge plus!
