The Long Black Veil

 In Articles

I wrapped up my music video project. I am happy with how it turned out. I definitely learned a lot about myself and helped me grow as a filmmaker, such as how I like to storyboard and how I love to have shortlists. There will always be issues that arise on set, but personally I love to figure out every possible thing that can go wrong during the pre-production stage rather than finding out during production.

If I were to give one piece of advice it would be to do the best possible work with what you have and to breathe when you are watching your footage on playback.

Great stuff man. Really love the opening shot and the shots of the woman in the long black veil.

Loved the double layering of footage you did! How exactly did you do that by the way? Was it difficult?

I am lucky enough to have an Aunt who has a equipment. She happens to have a green screen, which is how I was able to lay video in the background of the shots. Luckily, I didn’t find the green screen hard to deal with.

Any solid color sheet/fabric that doesn’t have any of the color spectrum in the foreground would work. You could put a yellow sheet behind Cassie and pull a chromakey from the yellow. A solid color wall works as well. Blue and Green are used because those colors are not likely to appear in a person’s skin tones.

I loved the consistency in the concept. The back and forth between both perspectives was incredibly well done. Great music video Tyler

It looks really great, Tyler! And your advice to yourself and all of us is the most important thing to keep in mind. Breathe and work with what you have. You did a great job.
