Flights of fancy
This is a photo of a bunch of seagulls. It is chaos. It is haphazard. It is really, in the final analysis, a photo of nothing. It is information without direction. It is everything and at the same time it is nothing because it is everything.
This is a photo of just a part of a seagull. It does not give the full bird in flight, but I have no doubt about what I am seeing. It withholds information and gives information. It is something because it is not everything. It is more intriguing because it leaves some unknown for the viewer.
Again, this is a photo of just a part of a seagull. It withholds information and gives information. It is something because it is not everything. It is more intriguing because it leaves some unknown for the viewer. There is a dignity to the bird, the sweep of the wing down to the black feathered head and the white hooded eyes. The first image is of rats with wings and the last is something more Jonathan Livingston Seagull than anything else.
Remember what you show is what you say. Show nothing say nothing.
