The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a huge annual event for Houston, drawing people from both inside the city and outside. It is said that more than half the population of Houston attends this event during the few short weeks it is open.
Each year, HLSR and the NRG Stadium/ Center offers countless positions for volunteers and interns from around the city. One internship offered is as part of the media crew; filming and directing various events, among other tasks. This is a great opportunity for communications/ media students to gain experience working different production aspects in real live situations, get their hands on professional equipment, and make connections. This internship is also paid, and a little extra income in college is never a bad thing.
I recommend students sign up in the coming years if given the opportunity.
Unfortunately, this internship is only available to students of a few select schools. The University of Houston, Lonestar College, and Alvin Community College are the schools participating this year, with a whopping 90 interns.
