Spooky Music Video Storyboard

When I first heard the song, “Leaves in the River” by Sea Wolf, I though it told a love story about a guy who met a girl on a drunken Halloween night. However, after over analyzing and listening to this song over and over again trying to come up with strong visuals and imagery, it occurred to me that this was not a love story at all… My interpretation of this song is about the soul of a lost ghost girl that represents one of the leaves that rests in a suburb yard.

The story begins with a guy, Eric, getting drunk at a bar on Halloween. When he leaves the bar in the late hours of the night, he spots a girl who seems lost and decides to go talk to her. While they walk together and the wind blows the leaves through the streets, Eric wonders what happens to these leaves. To me, these leaves symbolize souls. He asks himself if they end up in suburb yards, which to me represents how they cannot move on from this plane of existence; if they make it to the city, which represents heaven; or if they end up in the river just to float away, which can symbolize Hades’ river of hell. They walk to up to a small brick house where the girl says she grew up. She begins telling a story of someone who had died in that house, but Eric never figured out that the person she was talking about was herself. As soon as they begin walking away from the house, the girl runs ahead of him, laughs hysterically, and disappears leaving Eric alone, drunk, and confused in an empty street.
